A YouTuber involved in Yoo Ah In’s drug case is said to have escaped to France with the actor’s aid.
News1 reported on June 9 (local time) that the police suspect that YouTuber Yang received financial support from Yoo Ah In before leaving Korea last month.
On June 8, Yang uploaded a video to YouTube, adding more about the ongoing situation. The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency’s drug crime investigation unit initially indicted Yang on charges of violating the Drug Control Act. However, when an arrest warrant was issued, Yang refused to cooperate with the investigation and left the country. Soon after, police canceled Yang’s passport and asked Interpol to assist in arranging an arrest.
During the investigation, the police discovered that Yoo Ah In had provided money to Yang through an intermediary to help the YouTuber escape. It was later revealed that Yang had departed for France after receiving the remittance.
Faced with that situation, the police applied for an arrest warrant for Yoo Ah In citing concerns about the possibility of tampering with evidence. However, further verification is needed to determine if the money Yang received can be traced back to Yoo Ah In.
To date, a total of 21 individuals, including 10 doctors and 12 health officials, have been prosecuted non-custodly for drug abuse and misuse.
